Get Free Hyperrealism Brows Pattern Training: HERE

If you’re a permanent makeup artist dreaming of eventually offering your own trainings or online courses—but you’re still early in your journey—this one tip could save you a massive headache later.

Hi, I’m Kim from Kim Loy Studios, and I help PMU artists master Hyperrealism brows and build profitable businesses without burnout.

Whether you’ve just picked up your machine or you’ve been in the industry a couple of years, if there’s even a flicker of interest in teaching one day… this blog is for you.

Most Artists Wait Too Long to Start This (and It Costs Them)

When artists come to me wanting to launch their own trainings, one of the first challenges we face is… they have no audience to launch to.

No email list. No community. Just an Instagram account and a lot of hope.

This means they’re essentially launching from zero, which is stressful, expensive, and slow.

If you want to one day sell your own PMU training courses, the best time to start building your audience was yesterday. The second-best time? Right now.

The #1 Thing You Should Start Doing Today: Build Your Email List

You don’t need to be ready to launch a course yet. But you do need to start building a list of people who are interested in hearing from you.

Why email? Because it’s the one platform you truly own. Instagram can change its algorithm tomorrow. Your email list? That’s your direct line to future students.

And don’t worry—you don’t need to be tech-savvy or even know what your future course will be about. Here’s how to start.

How to Start Building Your List (Even If You’re New)

Step 1: Choose an email platform
Start simple. If you’re a beginner, I recommend platforms like Mailchimp or MailerLite—affordable and beginner-friendly.

Step 2: Create a freebie
This is your “lead magnet”—a small, valuable piece of content you offer in exchange for someone’s email. It could be a PDF, a mini brow mapping tutorial, or even a cheat sheet with your favourite pre-care tips.

I created my first freebie during COVID: a simple PDF called “How to Shape Your Brows at Home.” I used Canva to design it, and it spoke directly to what people needed at the time.

Step 3: Set up a landing page
You can create a page on your website where people enter their email to receive your freebie. Your email platform will then automatically send it—and just like that, you’ve started building your list.

Step 4: Talk about your freebie
Post it on Instagram. Mention it in your captions, your Reels, your Stories. The goal is to let people know it’s there and how to get it.

Why This One Move Sets You Up for a Successful Launch

When I opened my studio back up after COVID, I already had over 100 people on my list. I sent one email saying, “I’m open!”—and booked out fast.
The same principle applies when you’re ready to teach. Instead of launching into silence, you’ll have a warm audience who knows you, trusts you, and is ready to hear about your training offer.

You Don’t Have to Do Everything—Just Start Here

If you’re overwhelmed by the idea of launching a course, relax. You don’t need to have it all figured out right now.

Just start growing your list.

Start small. Stay consistent. And in a year, you’ll be thanking yourself for planting this seed today.

Everything you need is in this short video guide—give it a watch!
