From €0 to €126k — What Happened When I Launched My PMU Training Program
I launched my training business in October 2023 with the help of a business coach. My goal was simple: teach PMU artists how to master the hyperrealism technique and grow a profitable, in-demand business.
Fast forward to November 2024 — the training side of my business brought in €126,000 in new revenue.
That number doesn’t include client work in the studio. Just training.
Amazing, right?
Except… it came at a cost I wasn’t prepared for.
What No One Tells You About Sales Calls
Here’s how the business was set up:
- No public pricing
- No “buy now” button
- No info pages or sales pages
If someone wanted to join my program, the only way was to book a sales call with me.
Now, I understand the logic — sales calls convert better. You get to connect personally, understand someone’s goals, help them see the value, and guide them to a yes.
But after a year of doing it… I’m done.
Why I’m Quitting Sales Calls (Even Though They Work)
This year, I’ve spent dozens of hours on sales calls. Some weeks I’ve had 5+ calls and not a single one converted. That’s time I’ll never get back.
And here’s the real kicker: Most of my audience is based in the U.S. I’m in Europe. That means the ideal call times (for them) are between 3 PM and 10 PM my time — the exact hours I need to be with my daughter.
Dinner, bath time, bedtime… missed, rushed, or delegated to an iPad because I’m trying to close a sale.
That’s not why I built this business.
Revenue at the Expense of Freedom? No Thanks.
Yes, €126k is great. But I don’t want it if it means sacrificing time with my family every night. I don’t want to miss the moments I started this business to protect in the first place.
So here’s the radical shift I’m making in 2025:
No more sales calls.
At least, not in the traditional “book a Zoom and pitch” format.
The New Vision: Freedom-Based Sales
Next year, I’m building a new system that’s:
- More transparent (info, pricing, FAQs all on the site)
- Always available (no waiting for a call slot)
- Aligned with how my dream clients actually buy
If someone wants to learn about my programs, they can:
- Watch free content
- Read my blog or emails
- DM me with questions
- Buy when they’re ready
No pressure. No deadlines. No awkward time zones.
It might mean my revenue dips a bit next year while I rebuild. But I’m okay with that. Because what I gain — evenings with my family, the ability to cook real meals, read bedtime stories — that’s worth more than any euro figure.
