You can map the brows perfectly — same height, same width, same shape, beautifully symmetrical.
But then you step back after drawing your strokes… and something just looks off.

“If my brow mapping is symmetrical, why does the end result still look wonky?”

This is such a common problem among new (and even intermediate) artists, so let me break it down simply:

Even if your outline is perfect, your stroke pattern can still ruin the harmony of the brows.

Here’s why:
If you draw a low spine pattern on one side…
…and a high spine pattern on the other…

Your brows will instantly look uneven.

Even though the shape is symmetrical, the direction of your strokes creates an optical illusion.
One side will look like the strokes are dropping downward.
The other looks like they’re lifting upward.

And the viewer’s eye will interpret that as wonkiness, even if the mapping itself is flawless.

This is why consistency in your patterns matters just as much as — if not more than — your brow outline.

Symmetry isn’t just shape.
Symmetry is also movement, direction, and flow.
